US-TR Tax Treaty

Texts of Treaties

English Turkish

The United States has an income tax treaty with Turkey. Under this treaty, residents (not necessarily citizens) of the USA/Turkey may be eligible to be taxed at a reduced rate or exempt from U.S./Turkey income taxes on certain items of income they receive from sources within the United States/Turkey.

Tax Residency: Residency for treaty purposes is determined by the applicable treaty. Before filing your tax return, the first thing you should check is your tax residency status.

Source of Income: After determining your tax residency status, it's important to determine which income is taxed in which country, namely USA or Turkey. However, the tax treaty has very complex and complicated rules. For this reason, as The Finance Zoom, we have developed an interactive tax treaty tool (TTT) for you based on the USA-Turkey Tax Treaty to eliminate the intricacy of the Treaty. You can check your tax residency status and the source of income to be filed by using our tool. Since the tax treaty has complicated rules, please reach us to get more information.
